2015 has been a spectacular year for the Philippines especially for Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach captivating the Universe and crowned as the new queen, making every Filipino proud and joyful. And this January 2017 Filipinos were once more elated after miss universe organization finally decided that the Miss Universe 2016 would be held at the Mall of Asia Arena Manila, Philippines. It is truly believed that Filipinos are number one enthusiast of this event in fact some of them marked this day as one of the important day of their life and there’s no way that different elements in this world will not make it possible for them to witness the coronation of the adored women in the universe.
86 beautiful and astonishing women were vying for the crown but only one will conquer among these women, and with the keen judges that would determine the winner is the toughest job to do; however, they managed to fairly select the winner, and these people are Mickey Boardman, the editorial director of fashion magazine. Francine LeFrak, she is known as a theatrical, television, and film producer. Cynthia Bailey, a business women and an actress. Joining them are the former title holder of the Miss Universe, Leila Lopes, Ms. Universe 2011 from the country of Angola. Sushmita Sen, Ms. Universe 1994 from India, this event must be nostalgic for her since her coronation was held at the time also here in the Philippines. And lastly Dayanara Torres, Miss Universe 1993 from Puerto Rico.
Netizens awkwardly reacted seeing Steve Harvey hosting the event again, they assumed this was one of the nightmares of this pageant due to the controversial announcement of the winner last year; nevertheless, he still managed to host the event flawlessly unlike the Last year. Many were entertained the way he hosted the pageant this year, his acceptance of his mistake and making fun of it during the pageant turned out to be amusing for everyone. It was even hilarious when Pia Wurtzbach expressed her gratitude to Steve Harvey for he made her the most famous Miss Universe.
As the pageant started everyone started to shout and support for their country’s contestant, it has been a roller coaster of emotions as the pageant unfolds. When the first cut was made everybody were shocked that some of the potential winners did not make it to the Top 13 especially Ms. Venezuela. The Top 13 were Ms. Kenya, Ms. USA, Ms. Canada, Ms. Haiti, Ms. Philippines, Ms. Colombia, Ms. Mexico, Ms. France, Ms. Indonesia, Ms., Brazil, Ms. Panama, Ms. Peru and the netizens' number one choice Ms. Thailand. Wearing their swimsuit they flaunted their summer body and the fruit of their hard work working out just to get the perfect bod, but it was never a problem for Ms. Canada when she flaunted her plus-sized body in swimsuit. After the swimsuit competition it proceeded to the second cut which is the Top 9 namely Ms. Kenya, Ms. Colombia, Ms. Haiti, Ms. Philippines, Ms. Thailand, Ms. France, Ms. Canada and Ms. Mexico. The crowd was even more fascinated by the beauty and elegance of the candidates as they showcase themselves in an evening gown competition. And during this moment this was not just the competition of the candidates and the country but as well as the creative and incredible designers behind the grandiose evening gowns worn by the candidates. When the next cut for top 6 was being announce the crowd were thrilled, and luckily Ms. Philippines, Ms. Thailand, Ms. Canada, Ms. Haiti, Ms. Colombia, Ms. France made it and they were challenged as they showcase their intelligence when they had their question and answer portion. As this event gets close to the coronation portion, the more they became nervous as the candidate became anxious. The next cut was the Top 3 whose fight was surely worth-it, and this ladies were Ms. France, Ms. Colombia, and Ms. Haiti, That time they had their final ramp flaunting in an evening look and the final question and answer portion, nobody knew who will win because they all gave an excellent answer. With the final three, Ms. Colombia, Andrea Tovar was the third runner up. And it all boiled down to the two ladies, Ms. Haiti and Miss France. A lot expected that Haiti will win, but it was the European charming look of Iris Mittenaere who succeeded at the end.
